People struggling with debt are often facing heartbreaking crises that have triggered their situation - a sudden job loss, sickness or divorce to name just a few common events. They may cope alone for years blaming themselves, alienating themselves from others, suffering illness, battling anxiety and depression, and even contemplating suicide as a solution to their financial problems.
In our role as debt help professionals, we have the unique privilege of creating a safe space for people to talk about their financial challenges, and an even greater privilege in being able to help them solve those issues.
Although thousands of people across the province access debt help services each year, too many face a long struggle with asking for help or simply don’t know where to turn for debt advice. Sands & Associates believes an important piece of “normalizing” getting help for debt problems is taking the shame and stigma away from seeking help with debt and bringing these conversations out into the open. If you are feeling the strain or stress of debt, know that you are not alone.
We are proud of and grateful to our clients who chose to come forward and share their deeply personal stories - completely unscripted - about the situations they faced and how they worked through those challenges to find a financial fresh start and a new path forward.
It is our goal that sharing these stories will give hope to anyone who may be facing similar experiences and offer new perspectives for a financially successful future.
